  1. ±12      Why the world love whales

  5. ±11The    international    society    is
  6. practicly  in  WAR  with Norway.  The
  7. reason  is simple:  Should whaling be
  8. allowed   or   banned?   This  sounds
  9. pretty  drastic,  but  if you've been
  10. paying  attention  to  the newspapers
  11. lately,  you couldn't have missed the
  12. debate  that  goes  on.   I'll try to
  13. explain  some  views  on this matter,
  14. both   from  american  and  norwegian
  15. points of view.
  16.  
  17. In    U.S.A    hardly   anybody   can
  18. understand  the  norwegian  points of
  19. view.     It   is   of   course   the
  20. ±12"Disney-Tradition"±11  which  has caused
  21. this  need  to  care  about  animals.
  22. Especially for dogs and large animals
  23. in  the  sea.   Examples for this are
  24. TV-series  like  "Flipper", the movie
  25. "Lassie" etc.
  26.  
  27. The differences between the U.S.A and
  28. countries  like  Norway,  Island  and
  29. Japan  are  greater  than  you  would
  30. normally  imagine.   In  Norway  this
  31. debate   is   easily   becoming   too
  32. oriented  about  facts,  while in the
  33. U.S.A  the  attitudes  and the values
  34. are much more important.

  36. Organizations  like Greenpeace make a
  37. lot of money by fighting this "global
  38. environmental   war".    The  Central
  39. Intelligence   Agency   in  U.S.A  is
  40. running Greenpeace, thus making a lot
  41. of  cash.   When  they have won their
  42. war  against whales, they will try to
  43. make  a  war  to  protect  some other
  44. animal.
  45.  
  46. Personally  I'm  positive  about  the
  47. whale-hunting,  because  it's  proven
  48. that there are planty of whales.  The
  49. fact  that whales eat all the fish in
  50. the sea is also a reason.  But untill
  51. the  internation comunity is READY to
  52. listen  to  reason,  I  think  Norway
  53. should  wait.   Saving  a few hundred
  54. unemployed  people  isn't worth being
  55. "freezed"  out  of  the  co-operation
  56. between countries all over the world.

  58. I  find  it  rather strange that some
  59. demonstrants  in  e.g.   U.S.A.   use
  60. banners who say:  "Japan, Iceland and
  61. Norway   are  butchers  of  the  high
  62. seas."   Have   they  forgotten  that
  63. American citizens hunt the whale too?
  64. The eskimoes have hunted whales since
  65. "who  knows when!" Have they got some
  66. global  special-agreement  concerning
  67. the    rights    to    use    natural
  68. resources???
  69.  
  70. It  would be nice to hear what people
  71. in   countries   that   are   AGAINST
  72. whale-hunting  would  like to say, or
  73. vica   versa  of  course!   Remember:
  74. without     your     respond     this
  75. debate-corner  will  be  of no value.
  76. Therefore  I  strongly recommend that
  77. you   publish   an  article  in  this
  78. diskmag.ç
